Up at dawn again. Happy to report that this is now a thing. For those who are still trying to get into the habit of working from home, I can highly recommend getting up super early, putting your hours in before you would usually even get started and then letting yourself ‘skive’ the sunniest parts of the day!

This meant that I could meet a friend around 10am for a walk through the bluebells at Wanstead Park and up into Wanstead Park itself. Love acknowledging that it’s pretty much a straight line from my house up to this point. So many wildflowers along the route.

The bluebells were putting on a fantastic display as usual but the space felt reassuringly mellow after last year’s ‘one hour of exercise’ visits of desperation by most of the local area. Inspiring to see how just one species can carpet a whole woodland area and turn the whole thing into a sea of blue. I need to get better at allowing just a few things to shine in my garden but I think I might be addicted to rainbows.

On the subject of gardens, mine is looking particularly beautiful today. All that digging and moving of soil and plants last year paid off. The back is looking organised but naturalistic and the front is getting there but will need some moving around over the next few years to get the colours and balance just right. Am going to enjoy ‘painting’ it in perennials and then watching how the textures and tones all knit together.

Now the kids and Tom are back it’s a pleasure to set out the seats and put on the barbecue. So happy with our new reshaped home.
