We’re going on an egg hunt! Just packing the basket full of Easter treats – well those that I can muster without a kitchen – to share at a little garden gathering up the road. Annoyingly I feel a bit worse for wear – a little cold perhaps now the kids are back at school – but am going to try and pull myself out of it with some herby and spicy Virgin Marys. It doesn’t help that there’s such a nip in the air after all that warm weather.

The magnolia looks like it feels a bit like me as it’s dropped all its petals all over the ground. Beautiful in its own way but lacking the burst of hope that comes with the first flush of blooms. The prunus has also lost its blossom is and is now a beautiful russet brown. Love how the garden changes with the seasons and our patch is now designed and maturing to make the best of these meandering.

Also worked this morning but the front section of the book is proving harder to plan out. Often when there’s lots of overlap I find it so much easier to write straight into a layout so I may just redo it with that approach tomorrow.

After a morning of work, an afternoon of delights. Our first visit to a friend’s garden, kids playing on the trampoline, delicious food and drinks around the fire, lovely company, the aforementioned egg hunt through the beautiful shrubs, climbers and perennials. Although I felt full of cold when I got there I left feeling rejuvenated. A welcome soiree to set the clock back to some kind of normality. Add friends, flowers, fizz and fire and al fresco is good enough for me for now.
